Base make up is so important to me. I feel like it can totally transform your face and, for me, a good face of base make up makes for a good full face of make up. Does anyone else feel that way? I'm always switching up products in my foundation/base routine so I thought I'd start a new series where I check in every month or so and let you know what I'm using and what's changed. I really hope you like it!
Before
To prime I used an all time favourite, Benefit's The POREfessional Pro Balm. This makes a great base for so many different foundations, including the one I'm using in today's post! A new addition to my routine is the use of an under eye primer and I have been loving my Benefit Stay, Don't Stray lately. I patted the light/medium shade on my lid and underneath my eye to help prolong the wear of concealer and eyeshadow. For foundation I used Innoxa's Renew Age Serum Foundation* in the light shade, Nude. I am really enjoying this bad boy and I have a review coming on it tomorrow so check back if you'd like to know more!
After Foundation
Foundation does a lot of the ground work, sure, but there's still a lot to be done! To conceal under my eyes I applied the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer in Medium Cool 2. This concealer really is as great as everyone in the UK says it is and I don't know what I'll do when it runs out! I wanted to brighten up my inner corner a bit more so I reached for the Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circle Erase in Brightener and dotted a small amount on the inner corners of my eye. This concealed any left over darkness and made my face look a lot brighter! I used a small detailer brush to pay my MAC Studio Finish Concealer onto any blemishes and blended them out for a flawless finish. Finally, to see everything I dusted a light layer of Benefit's The POREfessional Shine Vanishing Pro Powder* all over my face, being sure not to disrupt the products below.
And that's the base! It's nothing revolutionary, I know, but I just wanted to show you how these products look and how well they all work together. I went on to create a whole look that I really like so stay tuned as that Face of the Day post will be uploaded in a few days time.
What do you think? Is a good base the key to good make up? How do you achieve it?
