Pre-fall collections started to show and Calvin Klein designer
Francisco Costa said he designed Calvin Klein’s pre-fall collection called "minimal, almost monastic" to sell. The collection is in Black, White, Grey and shades of nude beige. The inspiration is B/W
Richard Avedon’s photographs of
Anjelica Huston taken in the early seventies.
In the presentation, a floor-length, double-faced wool crepe dress in black; a long-sleeved silk crepe mini in white; a tough leather tunic in black. The designer explained as well that one black wool dress "is a new take on our best-selling dress from Spring. The stores were asking for a more wintery version." and as we all know, cruise collections as well as pre-fall collections are made and designed in a more commercial spirit, more risks and more art is put in the 2 main collections of the year: S/S and F/W. More versatile tunics shown both as dresses and as tops over narrow, cropped black pants, loose-fitting dresses and collarless coats. Costa argued that the double-face black leather has become a signature for the house.
The 19 looks presented in NY came clean, just the way the Klein woman (the Costa woman actually) wants to look. Well if the designer wants to sell then i think this collection will do it but seriously Costa is this all you want to present to the media as a Pre-Fall collection? Even though i like the looks but the missing part was the dream, i wanted to feel something in my stomach, this weird feeling we have when we like something too much an we feel like all we want is touch it and see it close, you didn't give me that, you didn't give me the chance to dream.
