Work has continued on the Dacian collection with a second cohort of Auxiliaries joining the Roman forces, courtesy of Tom.
These are the Warlord figures which have an added variation in the command groups with different figures on display here than in the unit I painted earlier. This helps add to the overall look of the forces.
Unlike my cohort Tom decided to go with brass rod spears instead of the plastics ones supplied and they are much more resilient to handling. Obviously the way to go. I like the fact that Tom had to redesign one of the shield decals supplied in the box to go on the round shield slung on the hip of the musician. I think it looks great.
The close ups show the great animation in these figures. The Warlord sculpts really capture the look of Auxiliaries, particularly the Optio with his great moustache in the picture below and hair plait seen in the rear view of the unit above.
The command group above really add to the look of the unit.
We now have a Roman division complete with three legionary cohorts and two auxiliaries done. On to the next, more pictures to follow.
